Mr.Man is walking!

Last night when I was doing all of my entries, I was wondering how long it would be before I would be posting about Cole walking. Here I am 24 hours later with the big news! I knew he would be doing it soon because he has been close to running with his push toys and seeking them out instead of crawling. Tonight he grabbed a very large ball and started walking with it. Andrew and I were both scrambling to get video of it. Thankfully, he just kept doing it, so we were able to get quite a bit of footage. His favorite was going into the kitchen where he could make the ball bounce.

His giggle was infectious and he had all of us, including Emma, laughing and cheering him on. He even walked to her, which made her feel very happy. She absolutely loves her baby brother. I am not sure the dogs share every one's enthusiasm for Cole's new accomplishment. Shelby was walking around nervously and Harley slept through it all. When I told Cole to walk to Harley he did it! I think Harley is his favorite.

H A R L E Y at it again

We have adopted a new addition to our family and his name is Harley. Harley came to us at about 45 lbs. He was very skinny, he now weighs 55lbs, right where he should be. Harley is full of energy and very loyal and faithful. For those of you who are dog lovers and readers, He could be "Marley's" long lost Boxer brother(from the book Marley and Me) We have had him almost 3 months now and not a week goes by that he doesn't do something very dog-like! Well this week was no exception. When we came home from a recent outing, he came running into the garage from outside. I looked as he ran like a blur past me and there was something in his mouth that resembled a stuffed animal. Well noooooo it was a dead gopher! I originally thought he had caught it, but we now think it had met its fate long before Harley found it. He was however, quite proud of his find. He laid it almost at my feet, with his nubby little tail wagging the whole time. G R O S S! You would think he could have at least taken it outside for me. Looking back on it a day later, it is funny, but not at the time. I had to go across the street where they are building a house and ask one of the construction guys to come get it out of the garage for me. I know, I am a wimp, but it really gave me the creeps to think about moving it.
He is lucky we love him so much! I, thankfully have no picture of the gopher, but how can I get mad at this face?

Cole's 1st Haircut

Before Haircut
My baby boy is no baby anymore! It just seems wrong to have to cut that little baby hair. But it was looking like an overgrown mohawk. Off we went to the children's hair salon and got his hair cut. Poor little guy cried through the whole thing. I imagine it must be so strange for baby boys to have those clippers going right at their ears. But in his case, he was crying before the clippers every came out. There is a receptionist at the salon and she came over and started playing with him and he calmed down. Of course mommy was too busy taking pictures to try and calm him! Some mother I am.
During Haircut
They have a lollipop tree at the salon and Emma decided she wanted to have one. So I bribed her and told her if she got her hair cut she could have one. She didn't really need a hair cut, but since we were there it was easier to just get her bangs trimmed then so I didn't have to haul us all out again.
2 new "dos"

Emma goes to the dentist

For the past couple of weeks, maybe 10 days, Emma would say "I'm not feeling well". When you asked her what was wrong she said her tooth hurt. She had also said her ear hurt once. So I decided to take her to the dentist the other day and be sure all was well. She sat in the chair really good for the dental assistant and watched a couple of movies about first trips to the dentist. The assistant took the x-rays of her mouth and she did very well until it was all over, then she cried! So strange that she cried afterwards. She hadn't had a chance to calm down before the dentist came in, so of course, she just bawled through the rest of the process. He said her teeth looked great, very healthy, so I guess we are doing an OK job of brushing them. She was very happy with herself after it was over though, like as if it was a piece of cake for her. I am not sure what was wrong, if anything. I even took her to the doctor to rule out anything with her ears, and she was given a clean bill of health there too. As my grandmother would have said "Praise the Lord" :-)

A little news about Mommy and Daddy

Today marks 1 week that I have been doing Jenny Craig. At my weigh-in this morning I was down 2.6 lbs! Yay me! I was very happy with that. The first day I started, we attended a festival downtown and of course there was food all around me. While my mom and Andrew both had juicy burgers, I waited until I got home and had my Jenny lunch. I did have a few fried mushrooms, since we were at the Mushroom Mardi Gras it seemed wrong to not have at least a taste. Then last night I attended a dinner and instead of eating what was there, I brought my own dinner. I was proud of myself for making that decision. People teased me about it, but in a few months when I am down several pounds it will all be worth it.

Andrew has also started Jenny and is doing very well. His first weigh-in will be Wednesday and he will no doubt have lost more than me. It is good that we are doing this together. A little healthy competition is always good....errr I mean the support is great!
